Perspective
By Daniel Kiser of McMinnville, Oregon (pictured second from right)
The entire trip to Fiji was so amazing! It was such a special experience to celebrate service, love, and friendship with the people of Fiji. We worked hard, and by the end of the trip, I was very tired and ready to go back home. But now that I'm home, I greatly miss the people, my AYS friends, and how close I got to the Lord during those couple weeks. This has been an amazing precursor to my mission and has really made me excited to serve my mission and to feel the same great feelings as I serve the Lord and his children!
"This morning, we got initiated to the villages we are working at for building flush toilets, Galoa & Dranikula (pronounced Naloa and Johnnykula)!
The people are nice, the children cling, play, and laugh. After one day, we left the village as best friends with the children, they even chased the bus as we drove away! My group finished our concrete foundation for one flush toilet and dug the hole for the septic tank! It¹s hard to work when everyone wants you to rest and all of the women are stuffing you with food and when the children absolutely love you and are calling you to play catch with the rugby balls!" - Daniel KiserI was able to meet great people who were poor, but were still happy, which was a great new perspective for me to see. I drew closer to the Lord by losing myself in the service of others and developing sincere love for the people we served! I would go again in a heartbeat!
