Humanitarian Experience for Youth
AYS returns as Humanitarian Experience for Youth
AYS is now called Humanitarian Experience for Youth!
We've moved our headquarters to Provo, UT and we are excited to start expeditions for the summer of 2012. Next summer we will offer more expeditions to more countries than ever before.
Why did AYS change? AYS began as an alliance of parents, teens and other humanitarian organizations, but over the past ten years it has developed into its own independent organization that necessitated a few changes. We restructured our leadership to allow the program to grow and offer more trips to more youth. We moved our offices to Provo, UT to strengthen our partnership with BYU students, staff and graduates, and to develop an internship program. We also wanted to eliminate the confusion between our organization and a Utah-based teen rehabilitation called Alliance Youth Services.
All other aspects of the program will remain the same, including the structure of our expeditions.
Is a Humanitarian Experience Trip for You?
- Going on a unique LDS-oriented service expedition to an exotic third-world country.
- Building lifelong friendships with a group of about 17 LDS teens like you from throughout the United States and Canada.
- Spending almost three weeks serving those in real need and making a lasting difference in their lives.
- Immersing yourself in a new culture like no tourist can do by working with the locals.
- Associating with and befriending local teens with very different lifestyles from your own, but with the same religious beliefs.
Humanitarian Experience Provides Summer Programs for LDS Teens
Much like EFY, Humanitarian Experience for Youth offers an amazing summer experience for LDS teens focused on their spiritual growth and development.
However, Humanitarian Experience programs go far beyond EFY by operating as humanitarian service expeditions to poverty stricken areas of the world. Think of Humanitarian Experience as an advanced EFY program with international travel and service opportunities. If you liked EFY you'll love Humanitarian Experience. If you're ready for a whole new experience you're ready for HEFY. >>Read More
