Raise Funds for HEFY Projects

 

Many youth have gone on trips with little to no expense to themselves. By becoming a volunteer HEFY fundraiser, you can do the same. By fund raising for HEFY, you will receive a discount on the cost of your trip based on the amount that you fund raise. 

Fundraising Goals

Discounts received for donations are not dollar for dollar*. The following guidelines apply to the amount you fund raise:

  **Or the total cost of the trip, whichever is less
 

For example, if you raise $1,600 for HEFY, you will receive a discount of $1,500 toward your expedition. That means that if the cost of your expedition was originally $2,495, your cost to participate would now only be $995.

Fund Raising Tips

 

Packets

We have created a packet for each country with suggestions and sample letters to help you in your fund raising efforts. Additionally, we have included ideas from past volunteers that may help. We recommend that you edit the letters as needed to make them personal.

Letter Tips:
1. Describe the project
2. Make it personal (Include a picture, introduce yourself, explain why you are
going on the trip, etc.)
3. Include the 501 (c)(3) approval letter

Family, friends, and businesses will want to help when they realize that you are donating your time to humanitarian service and that they can receive a tax deduction for their contribution. Don't let the cost alone stop you from joining us. 

  * When submitting donations to HEFY be sure to fill out and include the Donor Record Form, found in the Fundraising Packet. Also, make sure all checks are made to HEFY. We cannot accept checks made out to participants.

* We can only accept US and Canadian checks. $5 will be taken out of all Canadian checks to cover banking fees. If you are from Canada or anywhere outside the US, we strongly recommend having people make donations online with a credit card. 

*HEFY is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization, therefore donations made to HEFY are tax deductible. Participants are able to solicit donations for HEFY in order to receive a discount on their expedition. Donations received do not qualify for a dollar-for-dollar discount because they are given on an unfettered basis to the organization rather than to a specific individual.
